Wine Expo attracts international wine makers

HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) – On April eighth, fine wine makers from across the globe are descending on Hattiesburg for the seventh annual New South Wine Expo.
The event is presented by the Purple Parrot Café restaurant, and it will take place at the Cultural Center in downtown Hattiesburg. Attendees will have an opportunity to sample a variety of unique wines from thirty five different wine makers.
Dusty Frierson is the General Manager of Purple Parrot Incorporated and has been working to organize the wine tasting. Wine experts from Germany, Australia, Austria, Spain and several U.S. states are traveling to the Hub City to showcase their products.
“So we are really excited to have them come in. It’s the wine makers or owners of these wineries and they are showing their wines, three wines each. So we’ve got a hundred wines there for people to taste and it’s just a great event for the city of Hattiesburg, unlike anything you can get in any neighboring state even,” said Frierson.
Frierson said both wine aficionados and novices are welcome at the event. He added that there will be a wide sampling of wine available to please any palate.
