Retired High Court judge joins AUF Law School

ANGELES CITY — Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Eduardo B. Nachura has joined the faculty of the Angeles University Foundation School of Law (AUF-SOL).
AUF-SOL Founding Dean Justice Jose C. Vitug said Justice Nachura retired from government service last June 13, 2011, leaving behind an illustrious career marked by his exemplary service in all three branches of government under the Aquino, Ramos, Estrada and Arroyo presidencies.
As legislator, he is widely acknowledged for his authorship of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act and the Basic Education Reform Act.
While in Congress for two terms, he was chairman of the Committee on Higher and Technical Education, and chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Amendments.
As Chief Presidential Legal Counsel and later on as Solicitor General under the Arroyo government, he instituted several reforms and was responsible for successfully recovering millions of ill-gotten wealth.
In education, he served as law professor at San Beda College, bar reviewer at the UP Law Center, University of Santo Tomas and Manuel L. Quezon University, and Dean of the Arellano University College of Law.
In recognition of his accomplishments and immense contributions to the country’s legal education, AUF conferred upon him an honorary doctorate degree in law in 2008.
Justice Nachura is now part of the impressive roster of AUF-SOL faculty composed of legal luminaries which includes Court of Tax Appeals Presiding Justice Ernesto D. Acosta and Court of Appeals Justices Ramon Paul L. Hernando and Eduardo B. Peralta, Jr.
Established in 2006, the AUF-SOL is headed by Justice Vitug and Assistant Dean Domingo M. Navarro.
