Police, town officials launch allowance program for Aetas

PORAC — The provincial police and Municipal Government of Porac on Tuesday launched an allowance program that aims to help bring Aeta children in school and provide for their daily transportation and expenses.
The program launch was led Porac police chief Neil Oligario Miro, Mayor Condralito dela Cruz and Vice Mayor Dexter David.
The program, Miro said, aims to help Aeta schoolchildren meet their transportation needs when going to school. The outreach program is dubbed “Baon Para Kay Kulot”.
Miro said that Aetas of this town are mostly in the hinterlands and would have to brave kilometers of roads just to study for the high school and college courses in the downtown or nearby municipalities.
Dela Cruz hailed the new program of the police, saying the Municipal Government is fully supporting it.
He said that funds will come from the police and the Municipal Government, which also took care of the screening of beneficiaries.
The allowances will be given in a specific timeframe like a week or a month. The amount is based on the actual transportation needs and expenses of the student in school.
Vice Mayor David, for his part, said that the program will be extended to other Aetas here as soon as funds are available.
