Pineda to PCL: Work beyond call of duty

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Governor Lilia Pineda on Monday urged newly elected officers of the Philippine Councilors’ League-Pampanga chapter to work “beyond the call of duty and not to hide from their people.”

Pineda, who administered the oath-taking of the 15 PCL officers led by Pampanga-chapter President Mike Tapang of Porac, said they should “not just work from Monday to Friday but everyday even weekends.”

“You should work hard and be dedicated all the time,” said Pineda, who was joined by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Pampanga Director Myrvie Favia in the induction rites during the flag-raising ceremony.

Pineda said she will work for the creation of a “one-stop office” in the Provincial Capitol and municipalities “solely for those seeking help from governments.”

“We must fix the manner by which they ask for all kinds of help from us. We must not let the people visit all our offices to get assistance so we dedicated one office for them,” said Pineda in the dialect.

“We were elected to serve them,” she added.
Other PCL officials who took their oath are: Vice President Cesar Lagman (San Luis); Secretary General John Susi (Lubao); Treasurer Jeffrey Luriz (Arayat); Auditor Cha-Cha Simbillo (Candaba); and, Business-Manager Dwight Morales (Mabalacat City). Joining them are board of directors Rey Lapid, Ronnie Capulong, Angel David, Roan Reyes, Renato Gopez, Jocelyn Ong, Ferdinand Velasco Jeddalyn Dalusung and Arthur Diaz.

Asked for his comments on the statements of Pineda, Lagman said “what the governor said was right because we are public officials and we are here because of them.”

Tapang earlier vowed to step down from his post should he fail to deliver what is expected of him by his peers. He said “regular meetings will be held and (he) will foster oneness.”
