Pampanga city bags 3 major awards

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Three major awards were again received by the City Government of San Fernando for its best practices.
During the Monday morning flag rites at Heroes Hall, City Administrator Ferdinand Caylao and the City Council led by Vice Mayor Edwin Santiago turned over to Mayor Oscar Rodriguez the citations the city received from the Central Luzon Growth Corridor Foundation Inc. (CLGCFI).
The awards are for the implementation and best practices in the issuance of mayor’s permit during the recognition rites held at Holiday Inn Hotel at Clark Freeport last April 27.
The city earned the top award for the excellent implementation of documented streamlined procedures on the issuance of mayor’s permit for the year 2010 under the City Component category.
The award recognizes cities that provide simple, effective, transparent and fast delivery of services to investors and business applicants. Such initiative makes transactions with the City of San Fernando more customer-friendly, thus elevating the level of competitiveness of Central Luzon as an investment destination.
CLGCFI, the group that provides policy decisions and facilitates the planning, coordination and monitoring of investment-related projects for the region, also cited the City Government of San Fernando for being a model local government unit in the implementation of reforms under the Nationwide Streamlining of Business Permits and Licensing Systems in the Philippines Program.
The city was able to achieve this award by cutting the processing time from two weeks to only 25 minutes.
Last year, the City of San Fernando adopted a unified form, one-time assessment, and one-time payment in the issuance of the mayor’s permit.
