New boutique winery to open in London
A new boutique winery, which is claimed to be the first in London, is set to open at Earls Court in Central London in November 2013.
Named as London Cru, the boutique winery is the brainchild of Roberson Wine founder Cliff Roberson and a private investor Will Tomlinson.
The 300m² winery is housed in former gin distillery at Roberson Wine’s Earls Court head office and is currently being installed with winemaking equipments like press, barrels and tanks.
The company has roped in Australian winemaker Gavin Monery, who will look after all the wine making operations, including processing, fermenting, ageing and bottling.
London Cru will make wines from grapes sourced by Monery and Roberson Wine senior buyer and Master of Wine student Mark Andrew from vineyards in Bordeaux, Languedoc and the Roussillon regions.
The inaugural release will be around 17,000 bottles with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes sourced from Languedoc, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from Bordeaux, and Chardonnay and Syrah grapes sourced from Roussillon.
The winery is expected to release its first limited edition London Cru wine in mid 2014.
London Cru will also host tours and tasting events for the guests.
