Korean firms dominate Clark business

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE — Korean firms continue to dominate the growing number of foreign business entities in this Freeport, signing agreements with Clark Development Corporation since its inception in 1993.
In the business and investment updates submitted to CDC President Felipe Antonio Remollo, 53 Korean firms have agreements with the state-owned firm, representing 25.98 percent of the total number of foreign firms.
Among the Korean firms operating in Clark with multi-billion-dollar investments are the Phoenix Semiconductor of Philippines Corporation (PSPC) and the Donggwang Clark Corporation, which is now constructing its 36-hole golf course, condotel, school, and other amenities at the former True North area.
The Marketing Department informed Remollo that the United States has 42 firms, coming in second with 20.83 percent.
Japanese firms, with 36, placed third with 17.89 percent of the total number of foreign firms.
Other foreign firms operating in Clark are from Taiwan (10), Australia (15), France (5), British Virgin Islands (9), United Kingdom (9), Brunei (1), Hong Kong SAR (5), Canada (1), China (4), Dutch (3), Italy (1), New Zealand (1), Germany (1), Malaysia (1), Cayman Islands (1), Switzerland (1) and India (3).
