Bizwoman seeks clarification on license confiscation

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Civic leader and business Ma. Theresa Laus sought clarification from the traffic management unit of Guagua town on the confiscation of her driver’s license without any violation.
Laus said a traffic enforcer identified as Jonjon Añonuevo confiscated her license without pointing out a violation and issuing a ticket.
She said she parked her Mitsubishi Pajero in front of the public market as she usually does when she goes shopping there.
“There are no signs there that say ‘No Parking’ whatsoever. In fact, vendors at the market know me. So, I was surprised when this traffic enforcer took my license without citing a violation. He just told me I was obstructing traffic when there was this heavy equipment behind my vehicle moving slowly that was really the cause of the traffic. My vehicle was parked properly,” she said.
She added that Añonuevo did not tell her where to get her license back. “All he told me was bakit hindi ka kasi kumuha ng driver (why didn’t you get a driver)?”
Officials at the municipal hall and police said Laus’s license was immediately returned to her upon the intervention of Mayor Ric Rivera.
Sun.Star tried but failed to reach Añonuevo for his comments.
