USA: the remarkable breakthrough of Argentine Malbec Wine (May 10, 2010)

Clark Wine Center is pleased to relay interesting news and articles about wine to you on this web site.  We hope that this will enhance your wine shopping experience when you visit this wine shop in Pampanga Clark Freeport Zone.

While the financial crisis continues to worry many in the U.S. wine industry, there is one success we can marvel at: that of Malbec wine from Argentina. The key to this success: “the right style of wine at a good price,” claims journalist, Eric Asimov, in an article in The New York Times. Since 2005, Argentine Malbec wine shipments to the United States have increased fivefold to nearly 3.15 million cases in 2009, compared to 628,000 back in 2005. While some Argentine Malbec wine can attain heady prices ($ 100 a bottle), it is the low prices in the main that have made these wines a hit across the Atlantic. Unlike European wines whose prices have soared due to the fall of the dollar against the euro, Argentine Malbec wine have benefited from a favorable exchange rate with the dollar strong against the Argentine peso.

As a result of this price stability, they have become the value for money wines to many Americans. According to the wine journalist, another advantage of Argentine Malbec wine is its strong identity. With a well-typed profile, these wines are perfect for novice drinkers or for those consumers looking for taste consistency. Argentine Malbec wine has almost become a brand. Non-connoisseur wine consumers order a Malbec wine without worrying about the brand or wine producer.
