Tourists enticed to explore seaside town’s festivity

MARIVELES, Bataan–Mayor Jesse Concepcion has enticed tourists for an opportune exploration of this developing seaside town as it unfolds month-long revelry for its 68th year Liberation commemoration.
The town’s Liberation Day is celebrated every 24th of February.
With the theme “Ang pangangalaga sa kalikasan ay isang matalinong paghahanda sa ating kinabukasan”, the festivity kicked off first day of February with an animated multi sectors parade.
Encouraging tourists to discover the natural wonders of this town, Concepcion said the municipal government and the community strive to keep balance between the continuing industrial progress and environmental preservation.
Mariveles hosts the industrial complex Freeport Area of Bataan, which has about 70 locators.
“We are focused in improving economy but do not forget the value of preserving and protecting the environment,” he said.
Cultural and extravaganza shows, beauty and singing contests, and sports activities usually pack the month-long celebration here.
People in all sectors including members of the third sex, students, pregnant mothers, youth, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and municipal employees participate in the annual festivity.
“We want everyone to feel belonged in our yearly celebration”, the mayor said.
Since becoming mayor six years ago, Concepcion has been preparing various activities and shows surely to excite and titillate the people of Mariveles in celebrating the annual Liberation commemoration. ●Butch Gunio
