MANILA — Two former officials of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) facing plunder charges with former President Gloria Arroyo are now under the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Former PCSO board chairman Sergio Valencia and former assistant general manager for finance Benigno Aguas surrendered on Thursday evening with their lawyers, radio reports said.
The two accused officials were brought to the PNP Custodial Center before midnight Thursday.
Meanwhile, the manhunt continues for the other former PCSO officials who are co-accused: Manoling Morato, Roasario Uriarte, Raymundo Roquero, Fatima Valdez, and Jose Taruc V.
Taruc reportedly left the country last July.
Arroyo and the accused PCSO officials are facing plunder charges for the alleged misuse of the P325-million intelligence fund of the said government office.
The former president was placed under arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) on Thursday afternoon after the PNP served her warrant.
