SCTEx Bailey bridge opens September 10

CLARK FREEPORT — The Bailey bridge installed over the damaged portion of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) will be opened to light vehicles possibly on September 10, according to an official of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

In a phone interview, Engr. Joshua Bingcang, SCTEx services project manager of the BCDA, said, however, that the date is his personal target period.

He said it is the management’s call to set a definite date to open the Bailey bridge for all types of vehicles.
Over the week, BCDA and the Public Works Department started the installation of the Bailey bridge with a maximum capacity of 25 tons that could accommodate Class 3 vehicles and temporarily connect to SCTEX Pasig-Potrero Bridge.

“Recognizing the vital role of the SCTEX in the socio-economic growth of Central Luzon, the BCDA and DPWH are fast-tracking the construction of the Bailey bridge for the seamless delivery of goods and services in the region,” officials of the BCDA said.

The SCTEX connects the four provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Tarlac.
