Provincial agri master development plan underway

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Provincial Government and Department Agriculture (DA) agreed Saturday on the formulation of a provincial master development plan in agriculture to create a “holistic approach” in the implementation of post calamity projects.
DA Secretary Proceso Alcala told Governor Lilia Pineda that anytime this week, he will send a team to work with officials of the Capitol to start the preparatory talks on the provincial master development plan.
“Magpapadala kami ng isang team na makikipag-ugnayan sa inyo para ma tune-up natin lahat ng projects natin sa agrikultura sa mga priority din ng probinsiya (We will send a team to work with you so we can tune-up all projects for agriculture with the priority projects of the province),” Alcala said.
The Agriculture chief believes that funds allocated for agricultural projects by the National Government should be utilized for the good of the farmers in general.
He said this can only be attained with the help and participation of all the stakeholders.
“Kailangan natin mag-double time sa pagbuo ng plano dahil immediate ang pangangailangan ng ating mga magsasaka. Bukod dito, kasama din sa plano ang mga long-term projects mula 2011 hanggang 2016 (We need to create plans immediately. We should also include in the plans the long terms projects from 2011 to 2016),” he said.
Among those who will attend the planning conference are officials from the National Irrigation Authority, (NIA) Department of Public Works and Highways, (DPWH) Department of Social Welfare and Development, (DSWD) and municipal planning officers.
Alcala, meanwhile, visited the towns of Candaba and San Luis for consultation and dialogue with the local officials and affected farmers in the province over the weekend.
The visit, he said, was instructed by President Benigno Aquino III to personally assess the present condition of flood-affected farmers, so that later on, the government can provide timely and appropriate projects and assistance.
