Pampanga electric coop now ‘Lumens Hall of Famer’

MEXICO — The Pampanga Electric Cooperative I (Pelco) based in this town was recently received the National Electrification Administration (NEA)’s Hall of Fame Electric Cooperative (EC) Award in the recently concluded 2012 Lumens Awards held in Davao City.
Along with the Hall of Fame EC Award for its 2011 performance, Pelco 1 General Manager Loliano Allas was named Hall of Fame General Manager and was again — for the last three years — awarded by NEA’s Lumens Committee, the Pedro G. Dumol Award for the Best General Manager of the Year.
Pelco 1 swept most of the major awards, 11 of about 18 this year versus last 2010’s eight prime citations for its outstanding performance as an electric cooperative besting some 108 electric cooperatives across the country.
In addition to the Hall of Fame awards, Pelco 1 this year received the Emmanuel N. Pelaez Award for Best EC; Best in System Loss Performance Award (Single Digit System Loss of 8.8 percent); Special Citation for EC with Highest Financial Performance; Special Award for EC, which had implemented effective Information Communication Technology programs and projects (Pelco 1 broadband); Certificate of Appreciation to an EC for supporting NEA and the Institute of Solidarity in Asia in the Performance Governance Boot Camp; and the Special Award for the EC that contributed to the attainment of the 1,520 sitio energization.
Pelco 1 also received two “Sunshine Region” awards for having the highest number of sitios energized and the biggest number of house connections.
According to Allas, Pelco 1 attributes its success and shares its awards primarily with is member-consumers.
“It is because of the cooperation and support of our member-consumers that we achieved all of these. Of course, the Board of Directors of Pelco 1, as well as the whole organization where there is unity, harmony in vision, mission and mandate of excellent service, has always been supportive,” he said.
He told Sun.Star Pampanga that the awards simply drive Pelco 1 to reach greater heights in the future. “We hope to make it as a grand hall of famer next year as we vow to serve our member-consumers the best way we can.”
