Lawmaker leads opening of youth council sportsfest

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Third District Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr. on Sunday led the opening of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) basketball tournament in Barangay Anao here.
Gonzales, who was guest of honor and speaker, lauded SK and barangay officials here for their effort in bringing together 18 teams from the different sitios of the barangay.
Sporting events like these are always a welcome development. We see these activities as a very important part of community activities and in the development of the youth,” Gonzales said, adding that he is optimistic the activity will promote camaraderie and better ties among the youth sector of the barangay.
He also encouraged everyone to do their best in the spirit of community camaraderie throughout the games.
Gonzales also extended a P30,000-cash assistance for the initial funding operations of the sports tournament. He also said he will finance the bond-money worth P2,500 for each of the teams. The congressman also led the ceremonial toss ball signaling the official start of the games.
Meanwhile, village officials here took turns in thanking Gonzales for his continuous support to various programs here, particularly the construction of the Anao covered court and the sports and social service assistance extended to the residents of the village. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
