Group launches massive tree planting projects
May 6, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — A youth-oriented environmentalist group recently launched its biggest environmental projects for Central Luzon.
The Global Linkages for the Filipino Youth Foundation (GLFYF) formally launched its “Hamon para sa Kalikasan” project on Tuesday at the Clark Freeport.
Rubyrose Rustia, president of the group, said they have already finished the first installment of their program called “Inang Kalikasan: Pangalagaan, Bantayan” in January 2011.
The first installment is a video-documentary musicale aimed at informing school-age youth about climate change and the importance of environmental awareness and protection.
“This launching now is intended to promote the project’s second and third installment,” Rustia said.
“A Serenade with Nature” and “Balik Biyaya sa Kalikasan” are the second and third parts of the project, respectively.
The serenade set on May 28 is a benefit dinner concert designed to support the massive tree-planting of select priority areas in Pampanga and in Central Luzon. It will be attended by the government and private sector leaders, decision-makers and movers of the province and from other provinces in the region.
The serenade will be held at the Clark Development Corporation Parade Grounds in Clark Freeport.
It will also feature renowned artists Christian Bautista, Karylle, Jay Cayuca, the Taytay Symphony Orchestra, Resorts World Dancers, and Pampanga’s very own Aslag Kapampangan.
Meanwhile, the “Balik Biyaya sa Kalikasan”, a tree planting program set on May 29, is a major reforestation project of the priority areas of Pampanga and its neighboring provinces.
The massive tree planting will be participated in and spearheaded by the school-age youth of Pampanga and in the region.
“Overall, the program will endeavor to inform, motivate, actuate and involve our national society especially our youth on the urgent and pressing issues of global warming, climate change, environmental protection and social responsibility and their critical connection to the very survival of the present civilization,” Rustia said.
The GLFYF has also partnered with the Kapampangan media to further promote their environmental projects.
