Majority Leader Neptali “Boyet” Gonzales II made these remarks after the Chief Justice, in a speech before his supporters in the Supreme Court (SC), said he was a “stumbling block to three persons.”
The first wanted to stop the distribution of Hacienda Luisita to farmer-beneficiaries, the second lost his bid to become a vice president, and the third “desperately” wants to become chief justice.

Corona was supposedly referring to President Aquino, former Senator and now Transport Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, and SC Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.
These assertions only indicate Corona’s bias, Gonzales told reporters in a weekly news conference.
“Parang masyadong madaldal, eh. Eh matabil ang bibig, for somebody na who is facing prosecution. Dapat yan, hindi ka masyadong madaldal, particularly na puwedeng magamit laban sa iyo later,” he said.
As a result, Gonzales was prompted to ask Corona to inhibit in cases involving the government’s quest in seeking transparency in accountability.
The House leader particularly cited the petition questioning the joint panel of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The DOJ-Comelec panel was created to investigate accusations of poll fraud allegedly committee by former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and her allies in the 2004 and 2007 elections.
Arroyo is now facing electoral sabotage charges and is under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
Arroyo’s lawyers earlier said the electoral sabotage charges should be dropped once the DOJ-Comelec panel is declared by the SC as unconstitutional.
“How can he participate in that where insofar as the President is concerned he already lacks the cold neutrality of an impartial judge,” Gonzales said, referring to Corona.
