Clark Wine Center offers tips and advices on how to get to the 2012 Philippines Hot Air Balloon Festival
Well known among those who have attended the Philippines Hot Air Balloon Festival in the past as a good place to hang out, drink and eat during the fiesta, Clark Wine Center steps up a notch and offer more services and amenities for the 2012 Clark Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.
A lot of Manila residents are busy planning a trip out of town towards Pampanga in North Luzon for the purpose of attending the 17th Philippines Hot Air Balloon Festival to be held in Clark from 9th to 12th February, 2012. Some have already purchase Hot Air Balloon tickets to avoid the long lines at the gate of this popular event in Clark. But holding an admission is not enough to guarantee a wonderful time at the 2012 Clark Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. Getting to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta site in Clark from Manila is anything but simple.
This year a special Hot Air Balloon bus service is available. Participants board the special bus in a designated pickup location in Manila and travel to Clark in comfort, resting up during the 90-minute journey arriving refreshed and ready to enjoy the festivities of the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark.
Tickets to this special Hot Air Balloon Fiesta bus service must be purchased in advance. Round-trip ticket price is p750 inclusive of an admission ticket to attent the 17th Philippines Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Clark (no one-way ticket available). Only a small number of seats are available and once tickets are sold out, no more will be made available. Payments can be made through bank deposits or Paypal.
Ticket holders will board the bus between 6:45 to 7am in Ortigas Metro Manila, opposite the Philippines Stock Exchange Center (Tektite) where there is plenty of public parking. The Hot Air Balloon Festival shuttle will depart promptly so please arrive on time. Those who miss the departure may still board the bus for the return trip from Clark back to Manila. The bus will depart from Clark at 5:30pm expecting to arrive in Manila by 7 to 7:30pm. (Any last-minute schedule adjustments will be communicated to ticket holders via email and/or phone.)

Clark Wine Center, Philippines’ largest wine shop is located in Clark Freeport, at a location that is very near the place where the balloons are parked. This is considered the best vantage point to watch the hot air balloon take off and return to earth. Pre-dawn breakfast is served to the lucky few who got tickets in advance to a ring-side seat at this venue, on Saturday and Sunday morning at 5am to 8am.
Breakfast is served at the Roof deck lawn garden of Clark Wine Center on February 11th and 12th (Saturday & Sunday) at 5am. Hot air balloons are scheduled to take off at 5:30am and return at around 7am. This seems to be a comfortable and convenient way to observe and take pictures of the balloons taking off at dawn. Just how close the balloon will fly over the Clark Wine Center depends largely on prevailing wind directions. Last year, breakfast guests took many good pictures of the hot air balloons flying overhead not so far away.

Most of the complaints heard from previous Hot Air Balloon Festivals in Clark Philippines had something to do with bad quality of food and unacceptable facilities to consume the meals. Smart tourists would probably choose to avoid the weekend and check in on Wednesday or Thursday instead. Although the programs for those two days may not sound as exciting as that on the grand finale Sunday or the penultimate Saturday lead-up, many can probably approach the balloons and the crew with less obstacles on Thursday and Friday. Rooms may still be available but many tourists and local residents travelling north from Manila are booking them fast.
