City to use fund for water treatment facility

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The P2-million Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) the City Government received from gaining its Seal of Good Housekeeping and medal of excellence will be used for environmental programs, an official said.
The City was named best in its class for the coveted seal of good housekeeping in the component city category. It received a P2-million check as incentive, handed by Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo in rites held at Oxford Hotel at Clark Freeport on Wednesday.
City of San Fernando Administrator Ferdinand Caylao, together with Vice Mayor Edwin Santiago and chief of staff Rowee Freeman, represented Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, who is reportedly on an official trip and business in China.
“The P2-million PCF we got will be used to beef up the water treatment facility we are currently putting up at the back of city hall. Our partner, Epic Water, has donated about P7.5 million worth of tiles with aerobic microbes for the treatment facility,” Caylao told Sun.Star Pampanga.
The treatment facility, he added, is a vital component of the P700-million Sagip Ilog Project recently visited and cited by no less than President Benigno Aquino III for helping avert massive flooding.
“Hopefully by February next year, in time for our Kaganapan 2012 celebration, we will be able to launch the water treatment facility,” said Caylao.
