Angeles City’s anti-drug abuse council best in PH

Acadac has been selected as having one of the best anti-drug abuse councils among the local government units (LGU) in the country due to its outstanding accomplishments and performance in fighting drug problem in the city through prevention and control strategy.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan received the award during PDEA’s 11th anniversary celebration held Tuesday at the PDEA headquarters in Quezon City.
Along with Angeles City, other LGUs cited were Makati City and Wao, Lanao Del Sur.
PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac, Jr. lauded Acadac for its steadfast support in the attainment of the overall vision of drug-free Philippines.
“We acknowledge Acadac for its support and active participation in the overall drug abuse prevention and control campaign of the national government,” Cacdac said.
In response, Pamintuan said that the City Government will continue to look for new approaches in its campaign against illegal drugs.
“This latest achievement of Acadac has given us added inspiration and further strengthened our resolve to pursue a drug-free city. I congratulate the officials and personnel of Acadac, led by Annaliza Suller, for earning another notable commendation that is well-deserved and fitting for the laudable initiatives that have helped keep Angeles City safe for all residents, visitors and traders,” the mayor said.
“We hope that we can show the way for other LGUs in order to spur the success of the anti-drug campaign all over the country,” he added.
Acadac was re-organized under Executive Order 16, Series of 2010, pursuant to Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The council pursues an intensive and unrelenting campaign against the trafficking and use of dangerous drugs and other similar substance through an integrated system of planning, implementation and law enforcement of anti-drug abuse policies, programs and projects.
These include consultation meetings with various non-government units, POs and other sectoral organizations, organizing barangay anti-drug abuse councils in all 33 barangays and ensuring the active participation of all government agencies and departments.
