Oca thanks voters thru Freedom Day street party

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–In commemoration of the country’s 115th Independence Day, the city government, led by Third District congressman-elect and outgoing Mayor Oscar Rodriguez hosted an independence and thanksgiving party in front of the Partyland Restaurant in Dolores here.

Rodriguez, who won by a large margin against outgoing Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales in the May 13 polls, hosted an independence and thanksgiving party to thank his constituents in the district who voted for him.

He said that the party is open to all.

As part of its Independence Day celebration, the city government highlighted its street dance party, torch parade from city hall to Partyland Restaurant and the inauguration of the tourist road walk funded by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).

In SM City Pampanga, Rodriguez along with Mexico Mayor Teddy Tumang, Guagua mayor-elect Dante Torres and Mall Manager Lana Erroba led the unveiling of the exhibit of the world famous Betis woodcarvers in the province.

The SM City Pampanga freedom day exhibit highlighted the works of the Mandukit Anluagi Ning Sta. Ursula (MASU) and that of Presidential Merit Awardee for Ecclesiastical Art Willy Layug, who executed this year’s centerpiece design.

Meantime, SM City San Fernando Downtown staged its very first Independence Day Celebration at the ground level attended by Vice Mayor-elect Jimmy Lazatin along with mall’s office-in-charghe Engr. Bong M. Garcia and other mall officials here.

During the event, the Dolores Rondangklung Ensemble performed their “Makabayan” masterpiece, followed by a ribbon-cutting for their Heritage Inspired Photo Op with Authentic Kapampangan Muebles. ●Marna Dagumboy-del Rosario
