French Champagne house Bruno Paillard rolls out 2002 vintage
Champagne Bruno Paillard, a France-based Champagne producer, has unveiled its 2002 vintage – Blanc de Blancs – in the UK.
The Blanc de Blancs 2002 has a low dosage of 5g per liter. It has been matured on the lees for over a decade.
The label for the vintage is designed by French artist Jean-Paul Agosti. The label is based on the theme ‘floral ascent’ and features a garden with tree branches and leaves filtered through sunlight, reported Harpers.
As a common practice of the house, the vintage is also printed with the disgorgement date on the back label of the bottle.
According to the Champagne house, the 2002 was relatively dry year, with 15% less rain than average that resulted in small harvest. However, warm summer weather allowed good ripening of grapes and ideal temperatures in September 2012 made grape-picking easy.
The house has produced a total of 5,000 bottles, 4,000 magnums and 52 jeroboams of Blanc de Blancs 2002. The vintage will be available for purchase from Bibendum in the UK at £75 per 750ml bottle.
