Teachers believe mayor will run for governor

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — A group of teachers from the Pampanga High School (PHS) believe that City Mayor Oscar Rodriguez is still thinking of running for governor in 2013.
Rodriguez claimed to have told the teachers that in case the next city mayor stops their monthly allowance of P1,000, he will continue to give their allocation and increase it once he “is at the Capitol.”
“Kapag nasa Capitol na tayo dadagdagan ko pa ‘yan,” Rodriguez allegedly told the teachers attending the assembly.
“The way we see and understand his statement, clearly, Mayor Oca is running for governor,” a teacher who preferred not to be identified said.
“Hindi naman siya mukhang nagbibiro. Ang sabi pa nga ng mga kasamahan namin, kay Oca na tayo,” another teacher added.
The PHS teachers’ general assembly hosted by Mayor Rodriguez was recently held at the Heroes Hall this city.
Relative to this, it was learned that as early as August 9, 2011, a Facebook account “OCA for Governor 2013” (Oscar Rodriguez for Pampanga Governor Movement) was created to gather support in the gubernatorial bid of the mayor.
The said account has been “liked” by at least 37 Facebook users since its creation.
“Mayor Oca has been ready for governor of our province for a long time. 2013 must be his time. Please count me in,” Norman Ocampo, a Facebook user, posted in the wall of the OCA for Governor 2013 account.
Earlier, Rodriguez said he is not closing his doors on the possibility of running for governor.
“Taya ku nung taya kayu (I will only put my bet on it if you do),” he previously said in response to his supporters’ clamor for him to run for governor.
