Araw ng Kalayaan, pangungunahan ni PNoy sa Barasoain

LUNGSOD NG MALOLOS – Pangungunahan ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III ang ika-114 na pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kalayaan sa makasaysayang simbahan ng Barasoain sa Hunyo 12.

Ito ang kauna-unahang pagkakataon na ang Pangulo ng republika ang mangunguna sa paggunita ng nasabing araw sa simbahan ng Barasoain kung saan ay isinilang ang unang republika ng bansa matapos pagtibayin ng Kongreso ng Malolos ang inakdang Saligang Batas.

Inaasahan namang makakasama ng Pangulo ang mga embahador ng ibat-ibang embahada sa Pilipinas, maging mga kasapi ng gabinete, at 25 naggagandahang kandidata sa timpalak na Binibining Pilipinas-World.

Ayon sa Philippine Information Agency (PIA), ang Barasoain ay isa sa dalawang lugar na pinagpilian ng Pangulo upang gunitain ang Araw ng Kalayaan.

Ang ikalawang lugar ay ang Pamintuan Mansion sa Lungsod ng Angeles sa Pampanga.

Ngunit ayon sa kapitolyo, noon pang Setyembre ng nakaraang taon ay ipinabatid na ng Pangulo ang planong pangunguna sa nasabing araw.

Ayon kay Gob. Wilhelmino Alvarado, ang pangunguna ng Pangulo sa pagdiriwang ay nag papatunay ng pagpapahalaga ni Aquino sa Barasoain at kontribusyon nito sa kasaysayan.

Ayon kay Isagani Giron ng Samahang Pangka-saysayan ng Bulacan, si Aquino ang kauna-unahang Pangulo ng Republika na nagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kalayaan sa Barasoain.

Noong nakaraang taon, ipinagdiwang ng Pangulo ang Araw ng Kalayaan sa Kawit, Cavite.

Ang simbahan ng Barasoain na itinayo ng mga paring Agustino noong 1859 ay ang nagsilbing tahanan ng Kongreso ng Malolos ng ito ay buksan ni dating Pangulo Emilio Aguilado noong Setyembre 15, 1898.

Matapos ang halos dalawang linggo, pinagtibay ng Kongreso ng Malolos ang kalayaang idineklara ni Aguilnaldo sa Cavite noong Hunyo 12, 1898.

Ngunit hindi doon natapos ang pagsusulong ng Kongreso ng Malolos sa demokrasya sa bansa.

Noong Enero 23, 1899 pinasinayaan ang unang demokratikong republika sa Asya sa Malolos matapos pagtibayin ng Kongreso ang Saligang Batas.

Ayon kay Giron, ang mga kaganapang ito ay nagpapatunay lamang ng pagiging hitik sa pamanang kasaysayan ng Bulacan.

Inayunan ito ng PIA na nagsabing, bukod sa pagsisilbing tahanan ng kauna-unahang demokratikong republika sa bansa at sa Asya, ang kumbento ng Simbahan ng Barasoain ay nagsilbi rin bilang tahanan ng Universidad Cientifico-Literaria de Filipinas, na itinuturing bilang kauna-unahang state university sa bansa.
