Transportation office goes ‘green’

ANGELES CITY — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in this city conducted over the weekend its “big clean-up and sorting day” in compliance with the requirements stipulated in its ISO certification.
LTO-Angeles City chief Aida Santiago said the clean up and sorting day is done twice a year — once every semester — to keep a clean and healthy workplace as mandated in its quality workplace system.
“We do this twice a year to maintain quality work stations to provide the best service we can offer our clients. Aside from the clean-up, we also do big sorting of records and old and unserviceable equipment. This time, we also focused on our pocket gardens and planted more plants in keeping with the call to preserve and protect the environment, much that we are a lead agency involved in advocacies like the Clean Air Act,” she told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Sorting of old and obsolete records, she added, is done according to a process of scheduled records disposition.
“Everything has to be properly filed to support our database and our computerized processing of licenses, applications and motor vehicle registration to avoid problems and inconvenience to applicants and keep up with the standards of our ISO 9001:2008 certification,” disclosed Santiago.
The LTO Angeles City processes a total volume of about 500 to 1,000 applications in a single day.
She disclosed that in 2011, marked increases in licensing volume have been noted.
“From January to April this year, our number of licenses issued increased from 6,748 in 2011 of the same period to 6,838. In law enforcement, we had 1,582 recorded in 2011 versus 1,662 of the same period, from January to April,” she said.
