Councilor lauds village for environmental protection

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Councilor Jimmy Lazatin lauded Wednesday the efforts of the Essel Park Homeowners Association Inc. (EPHAI) in its moves to help in environmental protection, proper waste disposal and mitigating climate change.
Lazatin, branded by Mayor Oscar Rodriguez as the city’s next vice mayor, told Sun.Star Pampanga that he was impressed by the dreams of EPHAI, led by its president trucker and exporter Raul Aquino, to have its own materials recovery facility (MRF) right within the upscale village with more than 500 households.
The EPHAI quest of helping protect the environment and mitigate climate change began last week with planting the first 150 of 300 Mahogany trees in open spaces, plus the blessing of the enhanced Family Park of the village.
Aquino said that it was an initial initiative, the next of which is purchasing their own garbage truck, the root of segregation programs following the government’s call on solving garbage woes.
Mind you, the residents and officials of EPHAI are so strong and solid. I am sure that their plans for an MRF and efficient solid waste management program in cognizance with what the government desires, will work. They are the first private village to do that which is very laudable. Definitely, we will back them up, Lazatin told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Officials and residents of the village, meanwhile, expressed optimism that their project would be emulated by other villages and barangays during the blessing of its Family Park, which embodies the group’s advocacies. (Jovi T. De Leon)
