One bottle of wine in four produced fraudulently in Russia (Feb 15, 2010)

Clark Wine Center is pleased to relay interesting news and articles about wine to you on this web site.  We hope that this will enhance your wine shopping experience when you visit this wine shop in Pampanga Clark Freeport Zone.

In 2009, the wine market in Russia consisted of 94,5 million hectoliters, 73 % (69 million hl) produced in Russia (22 million hectoliters of still wine and 19 million hl of sparkling wines, plus brandies). Imports accounted for 23 % of the total : 22 million hl of wine (plus 2 million hl of vermouth and 1.5 million hl of sparkling wines). Wine consumption per capita in Russia amounted to 6.75 liters in 2009.

These figures, especially those of wine production in Russia should be compared with those of production and import of raw material for wine production: Russia has produced 22.5 million hectoliters of those since the 2009 harvest, a figure up 40% compared to two years ago, and has imported 25 million hl. Of the 47.5 million hl of total raw materials, 4.8 million hl were used in the production of brandy. The remaining 42.7 million hl were used to produce… 69 million hl of wine

The Russian market analysts come to the conclusion that nearly one bottle of wine in four produced in Russia, would be produced fraudulently!
