‘Radyo Kapitolyo’ to hit airwaves soon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Very soon, Kapampangans will be tuning in to “Radyo Kapitolyo,” a regular broadcast which will disseminate information on programs, projects and plans about the Provincial Government led by Governor Lilia Pineda.
The first in Pampanga history, Board Member Ricardo Yabut, who chairs the
Provincial Board’s Committee on Public Works, Infrastructure and Telecommunications, told Sun.Star Pampanga details of the station are off the drawing board.
“We have discussed details and plans of this with the National Telecommunications Commission. This week, we hope the memorandum of agreement will be forged and very soon, Radyo Kapitolyo will hit the airwaves,” said Yabut, a congressman wannabe.
He said they are currently deliberating if it will be on the amplitude modulation (AM) band or frequency modulation (FM) band.
“The AM band requires more like a transmitter off-site. The FM band, heard on most receivers, would be a good alternative since we have to broadcast just from our Capitol site,” Yabut told Sun .Star Pampanga.
Provincial Information Officer Joel Mapiles was just as ecstatic: “With Radio Kapitolyo, we can now freely disseminate news from Capitol as well as get feedback on the Provincial Government’s plans and programs. Sana FM so it could be heard even on cellular phones,” Mapiles said Monday.
Plans for the radio station include the installation of a transmitter and studio at the Provincial Information Office, right at Capitol Compound.
