Landfill proposes low rates per truckload of garbage

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Metro Clark Landfill or Kalangitan has offered the Provincial Government lower rates for its garbage, from P800 per truckload to just P500.
Kalangitan information chief Alex Laguisma said the offer was made during the recent meeting with Capitol officials headed by Governor Lilia Pineda at Holiday Inn-Clark.
Laguisma said Kalangitan earlier offered P800 per truckload, inclusive of the tipping fees and hauling garbage from a transfer station. But with the new rate, hauling would have to be done by the sources themselves, he added.
He also urged the public to segregate garbage, saying “with segregation, 70 percent is saved, and only 30 percent of the garbage goes to us at Kalangitan.”
“That’s more or less in the average 40 percent off the usual 40 percent from residual waste and would be cheaper at P500 per haul,” Laguisma added.
The Kalangitan official also clarified reports that they are in bankruptcy.
“We encounter the usual problems in collections from our clients as far as Mindanao. But Kalangitan is very healthy in terms of maintenance and financially wise,” he said.
