2 suspected criminals die in encounter with cops

TWO alleged members of a notorious criminal group operating in Bukidnon province were killed during an encounter with police authorities on Sunday morning in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
Police identified the suspects as Juvel Fabricante, who was ranked 13th in the most wanted person list in Northern Mindanao with a P90,000 reward on his head, and Renante Malapad alias “Buddy/Long hair.”
Police Superintendent Reynante Reyes, chief of the Regional Special Operations Group, said Fabricante and Malapad were active members of the notorious Rholie Batistil, a criminal gang allegedly involved in highway robbery, kidnapping, murder, cattle rustling, rape, carnapping and gun-for-hire criminal activities operating in Valencia City and nearby municipalities in Bukidnon.
The two were killed in an encounter with the police at Juanillia Village, Purok 13A, Poblacion Valencia City around 6 a.m. Sunday.
Recovered from the possession of Fabricante were caliber .45 pistol loaded with six live ammunitions and two fragmentation grenade placed inside his camouflage belt bag.
Another caliber .45 pistol loaded with seven live ammunitions was also recovered from Malapad’s possession.
Also recovered were an XRM black motorcycle and pictures of personalities believed to be would-be targets of the two suspects.
Fabricante died on the spot, while Malapad was rushed to Sanitarium Hospital in Valencia City but he was declared dead on arrival.
Investigation showed the XRM black motorcycle used by Fabricante and Malapad is owned and registered under a certain Gerry Fortich of Barangay Guinuyuran in Valencia City, as confirmed by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
Reyes said they believe Fortich is aware of the activities of the two suspects, especially that the plate number was removed.
“A separate case will be filed against Fortich,” Reyes said.
Police records showed that Fabricante and his group were allegedly behind the killing of Rogelio Estudillo, barangay chair of Kinapat in Damulog town, Bukidnon, sometime in 2007, and Rosario Magallanes of Poblacion Valencia City on December 10, 2011.
They were also tagged as the ones who killed Frederick Jalaman, barangay chair of San Miguel in Maramag town, Bukidnon last September 2011; Apolinar Gapol on May 1, 2001 in Purok 1 Barangay Kiraon, Damulog, Bukidnon; Norma A. Zapico of Kadingilan, Bukidnon last March 26, 2011; and kidnapping/murder of Myrna Galvadores, a prominent farmer of Dabong-dabong, Valencia City sometime in March 2011, among other shooting incidents.
